e46 Auto to Manual swap.
« on: April 16, 2014, 12:49:37 PM »
Okay so, I have read nearly every write up on the swap and don't have a problem with the physical swap itself, but does anyone have experience with the coding aspect of things? This is where the dig's become a bit grey. Really looking to do this swap so I can go F/I.

Thanks

I'm assuming trading it in for a Manual car has already been ruled out?
I know DanZio will code. Just don't know if he's ever done something like this before.
Either way, if you're coding and need German-English translation, let me know. I can definitely help out there  :)

It isn't out of the question, just finding a zhp period is difficult enough, or they have ridiculously high mileage. But thanks!

When I had that E46 I was parting out, it was a 6spd manual trans.  The guy I sold it to ended up buying it (and all of the parts needed) for a swap.

it wasn't difficult. In fact, I think he had completed it in 1 day (but he was a mechanic)
Aside from the obvious, you'll need the drive shaft, and also the yoke off of the diff.
Starter is the same for both manual and auto.
Clutch pedal too.

It was fairly straight forward. Toughest part is sourcing all the parts.

There is actually a guy selling all the parts needed for dirt cheap. So the only issue that remains is the coding
