Wheel Question
« on: February 09, 2014, 02:26:19 AM »
Sorry.. dont know where to post this... but I'll take a crack here...

I have a 335i sports package with 19x9 wrapped on a 255 30 19 tires.  Now, this summer when I buy my new tires... I wanted to squeeze a new wheels in the budget.  Will a 19x10.5 rim with 265 30 19 fit?  Is it going to be too wide?  Anyone of you bmw bothers and sisters had done it? or know anyone who have done it or thought about it?  Your inputs will be greatly valued.

thanx

Found this pic where the owner says it's running "265/30/19 on 19x10.5 rim. It's stretched a little. I'd go with 275/30/19 next time."
Are you on stock suspension?

It'll definitely be stretched. I would go with a narrower wheel.

Rob K.  I am on a stock suspension.... i guess 275 30 19 would be an option.  I tried running an online tire and wheel size calculator.... it says 275 30 19 is wider thus a slightly bigger in diameter however im not sure if that online size calculator factor in the rim width cause it probably just factored in the stock 9 inch width rim.  Correct me if im wrong but if the rims get wider, that means it stretches the tire sideways and when it gets stretched its over all diameter decreases.

not sure if youve already purchased your wheels already but i just bought 19x10.5 wheels and wrapped them with 275/30/19 nitto invo tires and in my opinion the fitment is perfect. no rubbing what so ever. I may be able to squeeze 3mm or 5mm spacers yet but I want to get coilovers before I consider that. I am stock suspension atm.

Dan.. the bad news is i just got my michelin pss with 265 30 19 2 days ago.  The neutral news is in the future i wanted the 19x10.5 tsw mirrabeau.  Will 265 look to narrow for the rim?  what is your wheel offset?  thank you so much for these infos....

sorry i was wrong about the rear width. M359s only go to 19x10. my rear offest is +25 and front is +35. I might get spacers but I want to get coilovers before I do that. From what I see the fitment is already pretty good.

The rear looks awesome.... but do you think considering the rears are upto the fender line... if you ever reach a significant bump, potholes or everyday stuff that we encounter here in yeg... will the tires slam the fender on impact?  thanx..
Much more with spacers... damn... looks really good.

The picture of the rear doesn't show the top much, but on stock suspension you will be fine. I have not had any rubbing whatsoever. I tend to avoid large potholes or bumps and haven't been caught off guard yet so in an extreme situation, I'm not sure if it would rub or not. I haven't driven the car with people in the back with these wheels, but I'm confident it still will not rub. Once I upgrade suspension I may have to roll my fenders. Not too big a deal though
